Van Every, K. (October 5, 2013). Project Wild Workshop

The workshop that I attended was called "Project Wild" which focused on educating teachers on how to teach environmental education effectively in the classroom in a fun and engaging way. I would use this in the classroom because the workshop provided a book of games and activities which can be used to make science more about hands-on experience instead of theory. Also I would use this information in my classroom to help make students aware of the environmental issues which are important topics in society presently. While attending this workshop I was able to experience activities that teachers would use in most grades to promote environmental awareness. An example of this was the activity called "Muskox Maneuvers" which was catered towards grades 4-6 which focused on how adaptations affect the predator and prey interaction (e.g. Muskox protect their young by making a circle around them).

The reason I took this workshop was because I knew that I wanted to become more environmentally educated and also wanted to gain more resources that I could use in my classroom which I start teaching.I definitely see this subject of environmental issues as being an important topic for teachers to teach which again is why I attended this workshop. None of the technology in the workshop fascinated me because the presenters did not use technology which I was surprised by. Overall, I found the workshop very useful as well as eye-opening in regards to showing pre-service teachers how to teach environmental issues in a way that engages students.
